Today is day 19 of the Write 31 Days challenge. I'm joining the challenge and writing on rest & replenishment. To see the complete series, visit 31 Days of Rest & Replenishment.
You know the days I'm talking about. The days that come early and never seem to want to come to an end. The days that are overwhelming and exhausting. The days you desperately crave a little R&R but you know it's not going to happen. Those days. Or, as it seems sometimes, even those seasons.
I was in the middle of one of those seasons earlier this year. My anxiety was higher than I have ever experienced and my chance for rest and replenishment was roughly 0%. Thankfully when I found myself at my wits end I stumbled upon Lisa Grace Byrne's 7 Days to Calm video series. It was free and required minimal time, both of which put it right in my ballpark. I signed up and it made a world of a difference.
7 Days to Calm is a week long e-mail series that contains short (usually 5 minutes or less) videos that share simple "tools" to help trigger your calm response internally despite what may be going on externally.
Sometimes rest isn't an option, but I am learning that calm is a choice that is always an option. In watching the 7 Days to Calm I learned small tools that made a big difference in my ability to calmly and peacefully carry on when rest might be a little out of reach.
