I suspect that homeschooling will change us by the end of the year, but it will be that slow, hard change that comes from chipping away at old habits and replacing them with new healthier ones. It will be the unglamorous task of being intentional about the mundane and not a sparkly wave of a magical wand that will bring change. So the plan is to show up again Monday morning and take the next step.
After taking the summer off (oops), it's time for me to re-join the Five Minute Friday community. Thanks for your grace while I took a break. Five Minute Friday is a weekly challenge for writers to write for 5 minutes flat on the one-word prompt given for that week. Lots of fun and a little scary to be so vulnerable. This week's word: Same. This may come at no surprise to you, but it turns out that the same family who went to bed on Monday night was the same family that started homeschooling this Tuesday morning. Yes, it was us, just plain ol' us, that showed up. We weren't magically morphed into a more patient or more organized family when we took the first step into our first day of homeschooling. I didn't acquire any great teaching or parenting skills overnight and my children listened just as well as they did the day before.

Sweet photo and super that you took the summer off! I was late to the FMF party too. I didn't have a strong pull on the word SAME. And, it was a busy week! Homeschooling mama!!! Praying for you. That is an adventure we haven't had. I will be homeschooling our 1st grader though in November for a medical leave of absence from school. That will not be the "same" for us, but it will be good. One day at a time! Have a blessed Sabbath! Jenn

Intentional about the mundane...yes. There is great value in learning this and taking the next step. Hope your second week of homeschooling is going well!
