Tonight I chatted with my writing partner, and we shared some laughs and good ideas. She's a writer. She knows it. She is bold about it and I love that about her.
I steal away to my favorite writing spot. They offer me a "special" - lavender honey latte. This place knows their coffee. It is their art. It's not my art, but it's theirs. They are passionate about it and do it well and I am happy to share it with them.
It's open mic night. Poets share their poems. They are stunning. I am not a poet. I'm a writer.
Musicians share their art as well. I am not a musician. I am a writer.
The energy builds as artists of all crafts cheer each other on and share their art. This community is a beautiful thing to witness and I am glad to be a part of it. The only lulls are the moments when someone denies their art. Decides it is not good enough to share. Those who are unapologetic in their sharing - even imperfection (maybe especially imperfection?), make beautiful art. When it is shared it is enjoyed and becomes a powerful community building tool.
I'm a writer. Art is most beautiful when it is shared.
STOP.
