On Fridays I join the Five Minute Friday community and write for 5 minutes flat on the one-word prompt given for that week. Lots of fun and a little scary to be so vulnerable. You can read more about it over here. This week's word: Nothing.
Five Minutes. GO.
Nothing is a difficult but important thing to pay attention to. It may sound elusive, but give it a try.
For example - when you feel you have nothing to offer. Think long and hard about that. Sit still and search deep. Where is that coming from? Figure it out. It's a lie.
And when you see a problem and think there nothing you can do - pause and rethink that one, too. Is it true? Because there are many unlikely heroes out there that refused to believe nothing was the sum of the impact they could make... and the world is a better place for it.
And when nothing is the only thing missing from your schedule - as in, there are no blank spaces this month, week or day - STOP whatever you are doing and make some room.
Nothing is a surprisingly important in our lives. Uncelebrated and often avoided, but important. Similar to visual white space, nothing can call our attention to other elements we might have missed if it wasn't there.
STOP.
