I love coffee. Sometimes I pretend to be a "coffee snob" but really when it comes down to it I will drink about any cup o' Joe offered to me. It smells good, taste delicious and, lets be honest, is a whole lot prettier than tea. But here's the thing, when it's time for rest coffee isn't really the greatest choice. (There is of course decaffeinated coffee, but I don't like to talk about that.) Here is a short list of teas I have tried that I think are both enjoyable to drink and aide in the rest and relaxation department.
1. Tension Tamer Herbal Tea by Celestial Seasonings
Description: "This blend begins with eleuthero, an ancient herb believed to impart a sense of calm. We've added peppermint, ginger and lemongrass to create an uplifting and balanced tea." (from Celestial Seasonings website)
My notes: This is my go-to morning tea because it is calming but not too relaxing, so I can get through my mornings with something warm in hand but not have my eye twitch. My kids love it when I drink this tea.
2. Sleepytime Vanilla Herbal Tea by Celestial Seasonings
Description: "We added the creamy flavor of rich vanilla to our original Sleepytime® blend of floral chamomile, cool spearmint and lively lemongrass. Wind down your day with Sleepytime." (from Celestial Seasonings website)
My notes: Perfect cozy-up-with-a-good-book tea.
3. Stash Tea Chai Spice (decaf)
Description: "Blended with cinnamon, clove, ginger and cardamom, this tea still has all the spicy, rich flavor of a caffeinated chai. The brewed tea is very aromatic, with a powerful taste and lingering flavor that is quintessentially chai in nature. This tea is delicious plain or with milk and sugar." (from the Stash Tea website)
My notes: If you love coffee and are hesitant to try tea I recommend starting with Chai. It has bold flavors and can be "doctored up" easily to suit your tastes much like you would coffee.
Ok, tea drinkers, I need to hear from you! Recommendations, please!
